THE NEXT BIG THING HOP- Be Still My Lover's Heart by Lisa Hannah Wells

Thanks to fellow TWRP author Kathryn Knight for tagging me in The Next Big Thing Blog Hop!  I'm talking about my first novel this week, which released in September.

What is the title of your book?

 BE STILL MY LOVER’S HEART

Where did the idea come from for the book?

I originally wrote it as a short story for a contest for another publisher. My husband liked it and I sent it to another and just lengthened it to a full novel.

What genre does your book fall under?

It falls under the Paranormal Romance genre but has Science Fiction and Futuristic elements as well. There are two lines at The Wild Rose Press and mine fits under the Black Rose Line.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Ian Somerhalder as Tempest
Landon Liboiron as Aveal
Jackson Rathbone as Rivera

Erin Sanders for Shea
Gage Golightly as Cami

Where (or when) can we get your book? Be Still My Lover’s Heart also at Barnes and Noble online.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?        4 Months

What is a one sentence synopsis of the book?

One woman with nothing to lose joins a Universal Military to fight whether or not it causes her death until she meets the one man, an alien, who claims she is his bondmate and have been meant to be together from time preordained even though they have to fight a madman in order to keep all they hold dear, including their future.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I don’t really know others it would compare to, but do know that it appeals to men as well as women due to the Science Fiction and Paranormal elements.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

The Alien race themselves haunted my dreams about their uniqueness and how they love one another, their noble character and their slight resemblance that caused them to be the rumored originators of the vampire race.

What else about your book might pique the reader's interest?

It is the first book in a five book series. Also, the term “Vatamp” means “Memory Makers.” This allows each member the unique ability to draw on the memories of his or her relatives who have passed on before them to solve unusual problems.

Most Asked Question???

When I was a little girl, I loved the stories that my mother read to me. Of course, what child doesn't? By the time I was five, I was the one telling stories and by age six, began to write them. I was very intuitive, still am, and intensely creative. I think most people who are creative rather than logical, are good at many things. There are those who are only good at one thing as well.

Another thing I learned from my mother was that reading was both knowledge and entertaining. I began reading from a young age and haven't stopped. I found out that she was so very right. I have been around the world, into space, in the middle of incredible fantastical epic stories and both heartwarming and heartbreaking romances. I learned about the world of medicine, the wonders of our bodies, the terrors of disease processes, natural and holistic healing practices, hypnotism and the working intricacies of our brains. In a sense, I learned I did have a logical side, but my creative side was where I lived.  I wrote stories, poems and songs from elementary school through college and even won awards for some of it.  Reading was my escape from problems I didn't want to deal with and yet my way of learning how to deal with them. But writing, well there is nothing quite like it.

For a while, I thought I might be a little crazy and so I visited a therapist who asked me a question. This question has been put to me many times over my life and I have always answered it truthfully. Sometimes, with unusual repercussions, always with curiosity that led to more questions. What is this question? "Do you hear voices?"  I'm a writer, of course I do! And I found out, after meeting other writers, that they do, too. I'm not crazy! Wow! The voices I hear are those of the characters, begging for me to write their stories; stories that inspire, intrigue and romance readers everywhere. Stories of fantastical races, other worlds, fights for survival, vampires, werewolves, witches and ghosts, of love worth fighting and dying for. Characters who are both funny and dramatic. Characters with everyday lives, rooted in everyday situations. Characters people root for, laugh and cry with.

So, yes, I do hear voices and I'm grateful that I do! If I didn't, there would be no stories to write. I may be a little crazy, but the world I live in is a better place because of it.

I ANSWERED THE CALL!

A call went out from my wonderful publisher for submissions. Well, I have several books that I have written that are just lying around waiting for editing, contracts and publication. So, I took a chance, jumped and submitted two. Now, don’t get me wrong, book two in the Memory Maker’s series is still in the editing and filling in stage, but is otherwise, complete and will be submitted this year as well.  I also, have a contemporary that I will be submitting for next year’s Holiday treat!  AND there are more! But, I wouldn’t want to be presumptuous or overwhelming! I just want to be hopeful and next year has simply got to be a better one than this one has.

THE HONOR OF MY LOVER’S HEART is the second in the Memory Maker’s series and is Cami’s story. No, it’s not with Aveal. But with another character who’s made a promise to his people to bring technology back to them. Racer turns out to be Cami’s bondmate, much to her chagrin. However, the two couldn’t be more alike. She, however, is not very good at following the rules, and now that they are in the world of the Vatamps, she can’t quite seem to come to terms with their culture and her life  is threatened due to her stubbornness and her trouble fitting in. Racer believes he is keeping her safe by keeping her out of his dangerous undertaking, but Cami is a warrior in her own right and if they are both to survive, they will need to work together.  Their story is a very hot and steamy one with even more action and adventure than the first.  But don’t worry, Aveal will get his day in book three. I won’t reveal his just yet.

The two submitted are a Vampire heated romance full of comedy, drama and one of my absolute favorites. I hope it makes it out there for all of you. The second is a fast paced, story full of twists and turns through time travel involving one headstrong bounty hunting  witch and one sexy opinionated ghost. But, hey, time changes everything, right?  Let’s hope you get to find out!

Well that’s the news for now! Stay tuned. By the way, BE STILL MY LOVER’S HEART is out in both paperback and on e-book on Kindle, Mobi and other formats through Amazon and The Wild Rose Press websites. I hope you check it out!

It's Here! The Wait is Over!

Imagine my surprise to find out that my book is out sooner than I had thought? It was planned for another two weeks out, but it's out now! I'm so excited! In a year that has truly been one of the worst in my life, here is the ray of sunshine to herald the literal dawn of what promises to be a wonderful new year full of pleasant surprises.  I've recently learned I'm about to be a Grandmother for the first time and I'm excited about that! I'm going home to Tennessee to see my mom and two of my children, none of whom I've seen in a long time. Many of my projects are wrapping up and I'm fixing to start the query and submission process again with many of the books I've already got completely written!

Even though I know that the entertainment industry, no matter which branch, is difficult to get a strong foothold in, I'm confident that my ship is anchored a little way out and I'm about to catch the shuttle to set sail on it!  Please check with me on Facebook where I will announce a release party with some neat giveaways very soon. Here's where you can check out Tempest and Shea's story:

Sincerely,

Lisa Hannah Wells

It's Getting Closer to Release Day!

Release Day is Fast Approaching!

Well, October 26th 2012 is the day my latest book comes out. TWRP is the publisher and I'm grateful to be with them! Here's the blurb:

Ethereal beauty Shea, a Lieutenant in a Universal military, has spent the last four years protecting Colony supply freighters on a small space station. If not for her partner and the hopes of a better assignment, the loss of her husband and a devastating illness would leave her little desire to live.

That is until she meets Tempest, an alien whose species is rumored to be the origin of the vampires.  A man who makes her feel alive in ways she's never felt before.

Tempest has prayed to the Divine One for countless years for his bondmate.  Shea is his long-awaited answer and so much more.  One night will not be enough for a man who has waited a lifetime, but he is determined to make Shea his forever.

With a madman out to destroy them and certain death nipping at their heels, will Tempest and Shea outwit Remi and survive to share a future together, or die protecting all they hold dear?

Sometimes it gets difficult to sit down and type out so many thousand words per day. Concentration tends to wander, plants have to be watered, pets demand attention, not to mention you have to eat sometime. Summer is the worst. Everyone has their kids or grandkids visiting and usually playing in the pool or some other exciting venture. Cooking is hazardous due to the heat already being produced by the sun. However, the harvest is pretty good because of that bright pain in my butt.  I just have no energy. Winter, or whenever the weather grows cold, is my best time. My brain begins to function properly again and my energy levels are up. I suddenly have a little more time for the things I like to do. I can even crawl out of bed at a decent hour.

Health issues are another matter. Mine tend to be dental related and should finally be at an end in another year. At least that seems to be the projected time for it to be over.   With the holidays around the corner, I'm wanting to go home and visit with family. I live on the West coast, they live on the East coast. That makes things difficult. Plane fare is expensive and since I'm relatively an unknown to many readers, I don't make the kind of money I'd like to.  My kids are a scattered group. Two in the Army and one in college. They consider their home base to be New York, where their dad and stepmom live. I'd like to fly out there and visit them, too. One day, perhaps this will all be possible.

For now, I have the release date to look forward to, self-promotion to take care of, blogs to write and who knows what else to do in order make this go. As a freelance writer, I also have a screenplay to finish; a collaboration, and have just received interest from my son to collaborate on a story he dreamed, but needs help writing. That is good news. Well, enough to keep me busy. Ah, a Writer's Life.
